This series is a work of fiction and as such, controversial points of view may be written to enhance the readers experience. The author’s goal has been to make the reader think critically and the views expressed do not necessarily reflect those of the author. The author would like, however, to help readers realize what detrimental effects we have created for our wildlife.

A gripping psychological thriller on the inherent greed and evil of man, dooming the planet.

Two hundred years of tender love between man and alien, political downfalls, wanton violence of unspeakable order tempered with laughter, family loyalty and hope is the thrilling vehicle by which Ms. Accinni conveys her cautionary tale of the merciless disrespect man gives his planet and the vulnerable creatures entrusted to him.

“Baby” introduces Netty, a naive teenage farm girl given in marriage to an older brutal opportunist disguised as a successful citizen during the years of Prohibition in Sussex County, New Jersey. After years of enslavement, Netty flees into the night from her rapist and bootlegger husband, traveling back to the farm worked by her parents, where she rescues an unfamiliar damaged creature she finds in a cave in the woods of her childhood, falling in love with the enigmatic alien she names Baby. Together they find happiness and fulfillment despite the changes to Netty’s body wrought by the proximity of the unusual creature.

Damaged by entry into our atmosphere while pregnant, the confused creature forgets the purpose of his mission, appearing unconcerned with the disappearance of his offspring and savoring the unexpected joy of the love he shares with young Netty.

When a handsome Italian stranger comes into Netty’s life, complications ensue as she falls in love while trying to hide the bizarre and wondrous changes to her farm and her body. Netty, Baby and Wil strive to conquer obstacles thrown in their path by life, succeeding wildly until the heart-rending and astonishingly brutal climax to their story.

This charming, yet brutal story is the prologue to a series that will chill and surprise you as it foretells the selfishly destructive path man has followed since his species evolved. It pulls no punches while allowing Netty and Baby’s influence to transcend mortal life as the world dances toward depraved indifference, introducing other characters along the ride that readers will laugh, shed tears with and learn to despise.

What lengths will Baby and his offspring go to complete their mission? Will it spell Armageddon for the beleaguered planet with its vulnerable and exploited creatures or will man tip the scales himself, leaving those that love the creatures to salvage the pitiful ruins?

Beezley Hills – A Photo Guide

joebeckerphoto

Beezly Hills I’ve lived in Washington nearly my whole life, yet only heard about the Beezley Hills Preserve this year. Beezley Hills Preserve is a 4,800-acre natural area protected by the Nature Conservancy. On the hills north of Quincy, Washington, the preserve has views south over the Columbia Basin and west to the Cascade Mountains. However, the views aren’t the reason to visit – the plant life is. Beezley Hills is part of one of the largest intact tracts of shrub-steppe ecosystem in the state and one of the best wildflower spots in eastern Washington. Spring time, from late April to mid-May, is prime time to visit when most of the wildflowers are blooming. It’s during these few weeks in spring when this sagebrush desert shows its best colors.

Tanya, Nahla and I visited last Friday, April 25, and the wildflowers were not quite yet at their peak bloom. We did see…

Interviews

1. Could you tell us a little bit about yourself?

So many things. I am a freelance article writer and entrepreneur. I’m originally from Jamaica and grew up in Miami. I moved back a couple of years ago because I needed to make a serious change to start living the life I wanted. Offline, my Dad and I are working on an agribusiness with the plan of growing what we eat and online, I’m writing and working on a marketing business as well so I’m excited about the year so far with the publication of my first fiction book. It’s a dream come true.

2. Describe your book Unchained Hearts (Baxter Family Saga) in 30 words or less.

It’s a drama about the lives of two couples. One is the mother and father of the main character Kyle Avery and the other is Kyle and Brandon. Both couples have to deal with circumstances beyond their control that try to tear them apart permanently.

3. What was the hardest part of writing your book?

It was being careful not to judge every word. Writing a book is hard enough but when you’re judging every word, it can be even more harrowing and that’s my challenge. I want to make sure I’m true to the story first, last and always so I had to make sure I gave it a fair chance to “come out” so to speak

4. What books have had the greatest influence on you?

I am a lover of Barbara Taylor Bradford from early on. I have such respect for her writing, she’s a great epic writer and I love Emma Harte. She’s one of the most inspirational female characters I know. I also loved Zora Neale Hurston’s Their Eyes Were Watching God. Another strong woman who overcame so much and was still standing on her own terms at the end of it.

5. Briefly share with us what you do to market your book?

I have a great publisher who really works hard to get the word out. I do podcasts interviews, blog spotlights, guest blogs, event takeovers, and I work with Twitticus Marketing/ Book Promotions to do targeted email blasts, and tweets on my own as well as my own blog. It’s great to have the support to get the word out and between those two companies, I’m happy.

6. How do you spend your time when you are not writing?

I’m always writing BUT when I’m fortunate to have a lull in my schedule, I hit my Kindle reading list, which is growing. I’m checking out the classic I love like Pride & Prejudice and Jane Eyre. I’m also checking out the books of some of my colleagues because I’ve read the excerpts and I’m bowled over by the talent we have at Beau Coup Publishing. I’m looking forward to reading them.

7. What are you working on next?

Well Book 2 is in the hands of the publisher right now and I’m looking forward to getting that out in about April. I will be prepping for hat release with some special events. In between that I’ll be researching and starting Book 3. So I’m working between the drops and having a great time doing it!

Palessa started reading her first romance novel, at the age of 11. Then she got introduced to V.C. Andrews, Barbara Taylor Bradford, Anne Rice and many more notable contemporary authors as well as some of the classics, A Tale of Two Cities, Their Eyes Were Watching God, The Great Gatsby and others. It was during her teenage years that she dabbled in writing. First, it was in her diaries, then she started creating characters, stories about romance, the supernatural and much more. Being an International Baccalaureate student as well as entering college, left little time for writing and so she put it and the ideas aside to pursue a career. It would take almost 20 years, a radical move from the city she grew up in, Miami, FL back to her Caribbean birthplace, and a chance Facebook meeting with Sable Hunter to start the juices flowing again.

After some fits and starts, the Baxter Family Saga was born. Unchained Hearts is Palessa’s first published fiction book with Beau Coup Publishing. Book 2: Portrait of Gray was released April 2014. She considers herself just a storyteller that sees no reason to shy away from the juicier romantic elements. She currently lives in the mountains of Jamaica with her crazy, cracker-munching-mutt Ivy and a farm, primarily managed by agribusiness partner, also known as Dad.

Continue the Baxter Family Saga with book 2

Grayson Baxter, first born of Julian and Joan, has always been the prodigal of the Baxter clan. He’s been deep into drug use since he was a teenager. As his brother Cass enters a new phase in his life and is headed towards taking over the family business, Grayson’s drug use worsens. With the help of his friend, Jerry, he plans to break away from the family that hates him but something goes terribly wrong. After tragedy strikes and with the help of a unique facility, he gets his life back. As he discovers and pursues his desire to become a therapist, he falls in love with Bindi Gail and they start a life together until he has to make a decision that tears them apart.

As he navigates an unexpected turn of events, Cass disappears just as he and Virgilia were about to embark on a cruise. Grayson works to find out what happened and befriends a police officer with whom he has a special history. Carla Genny is a bright officer, a budding detective being eyed for a special hybrid of the Bureau and local police. Their professional relationship turns to friendship and becomes more as she, along with specially chosen members of the squad, works with him on a serial rape case that’s scaring Miami. The existence and protection of a special witness puts the team on high alert. It’s during this last assignment that Carla’s training is put to the test and Grayson’s love is realized.

Love Game

e-Tinkerbell

Romeo-and-Juliet

Each age has always had its own set of rules for courting, for sure. Certainly nowadays, the equality of the sexes, the crush of old taboos, Sex and the City, why not, have utterly affected our behaviour in playing modern love games, as the roles are no longer fixed and immutable.  In the past, the man led the “minuet” of courting and the lady followed him in the dance.

Hawei's_Dorigen_During the Middle ages and Renaissance, for example, the body of conventions which governed the relation of aristocratic lovers was called “courtly love “: a sort of idealized and sometimes even illicit kind of love in which the knight consecrated himself to a woman often superior in rank or even married – the prototypes are Lancelot and Queen Genevieve – who deliberately displayed a certain indifference in order to preserve her reputation. The ” mistress”  was certainly beautiful, pure like an angel, distant ; therefore the essence of pleasure in this love game stood in…

Dianne D. Dixon

Dianne-D-Dixon_1163331

1. Did you pick your genre or did it pick you?

I think it picked me. I had written fiction when I was younger and I had put it away for years. Then I turned to writing non-fiction. That was when the fiction bug came on pretty strongly and I’ve been focused on that since

2. Do you write in multiple genres or just one?

Right now I’m in the romantic suspense arena for my first Baxter Family Saga series but I don’t rule out moving into one or two more if I get brave enough.

3. How much time do you devote to writing per day?

Writing is not a daily thing for me. If the story is moving and I have to get it out, I’ll dedicate the time. If I need the break, I’ll take it. I’m very flexible with myself and my time

4. What have you published so far?

Well, in late December, I published the first book in the series called Unchained Hearts and in late April, Book 2, Portrait of Gray was released. I’m currently working on Book 3 so I hope to have at least 3 books altogether.

5. Has your method of writing changed over the course of publishing your books?

I’m a bit more relaxed now and it started with the second one. It just flowed better because I was more familiar with the characters. Plus I’m finding my voice so it’s a process that I’m still working.

6. Where do you see yourself a year from now?

In a year, I hope to be in the UK visiting with a few other authors at a possible small signing there. I’ll also be meeting with a special model I wanted to use for a book that’s rolling in my head. I think for the most part, the Baxter series will be complete and I’ll be moving on to other stories but, you never know. I think I’ll have built my following by then just a little.

7. Did you self-publish, go the traditional way, or do both?

I did it for myself and then got picked up by Beau Coup, which is a small publisher. I don’t know how self-publishers do it. BC helps streamline the process and help us get the word out in addition to what I’m doing so it’s good to have them working on my behalf. I’m getting promo spots, online radio interviews, these guys are great. I never thought of going to the big guys because I figured they already have their preconceived agendas and I’m not one to work well within those kinds of confines.

8. Which method did you prefer? I like small indie publishers that work to help writers get published and promoted like Beau Coup.

9. Of the books that you have written, do you have a favorite?

Why? Right now it’s Portrait of Gray because it was such an intense ride. It’s a bit of a tearjerker from what the editor told me and I agree. The character really spoke to me and it was just a smoother process getting the story out

10. Why did you become a writer?

I always wanted to create something and this is my way of doing that on my own terms. I said that if I was going to do it I was going to just focus on having a good story that I liked and that I could stand by. So far, so good.

11. Who is your target audience?

Readers who like a good story. I am attracting those who like romances with happy endings and that’s great but I’m finding that readers who are open to the story and aren’t really strict genre-ists are for me, I think.

12. What are you working on now?

Well, as I mentioned, I’m working on Book 3 in the series and it’s a very involved story as it goes farther back in the history of the family and has some more intense twists. So the challenge is to get the facts of the story right, even more so than in the first 2 because I’m answering a lot of open questions from the previous books. It’s a good, solid challenge

13. What makes you different from other writers in your genre?

I have been told that my books are roller coasters with zags instead of zigs. I tend to not write what readers expect and that’s because I can’t stand stories where I already know the twists and turns. When I write it, I’m happy to say that even I’m surprised by what’s coming out. That’s a good sign.

MJ Rain

50ac60942d47cc8fe1bd98ecdb05ae40

Age 31

Where you live: I was born and raised on Long Island, a suburb of New York City. Just before my 23rd Birthday, we moved to Central Iowa, and this August we’ll be living here 9 years.

1) How long have you been writing?: I’ve been a writer all of my life pretty much. I always did well and excelled in English, Reading, and any writing assignment all through school. My Essays were the reason I passed my English and Social Studies Regents exams in high school. It wasn’t until I was a Senior in high school that I knew I wanted to write a book. I did some freelance writing for friends, writing their college papers, 20+ and never scoring lower than a 90%. I eventually stopped because I wanted credit for my own work.

2) What or who was your inspiration to write?: I started writing for myself and seriously after suffering a nervous breakdown. My therapist suggested it as a coping mechanism and I haven’t looked back. It was a positive and non-destructive way to deal with my emotions, and I eventually started writing poetry again, then a book about my niece, and then my A Telltale Destiny series. My nervous breakdown is easily the Best thing that ever happened to me because it forced me to finally deal with all of the emotional trauma of my life and it led me back to writing, which has led me to my life’s

purpose of being an Activist in the Global Fight against HIV/AIDS.

3) Which genre do you like to read? Why? My Favorite is Fantasy and Sci Fi. I love that there are no boundaries or rules and anything is possible if the imagination is daring enough to create it. Makes for a Great Escape. Though, one of my favorite books is To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, so if it’s written well and piques my interest, I’ll read anything.

4) Do you write this genre or others? Why? I write Young Adult Fantasy because like I said before, anything is possible. There are no rules and the only limit is how far I can push my imagination. I’ve written a children’s book about my niece, which is based upon the time we baked a rainbow cake together, so it’s based in reality with a twist of fiction. I want to eventually write 10 books for that series. I can see it being the next Superfudge.

5) Who are your favorite authors? Jo Rowling, because her life story really inspired me to stick with my own story, which I was writing with blind faith. I had no idea where it was going. Knowing that she herself had hit emotional rock bottom herself was incredible for me after having become a certified Potterhead. Harry gave me someplace safe to go where I felt accepted and protected. Potter saved me from the world of Misery I was drowning in. I scoff at people who say it’s just for kids, because they don’t understand how powerful the underlying themes are, there being so many. It’s so much more than just ‘Wizards and Magic’. Jo Rowling is my literary hero.

6) How do you create your characters? My characters generally just materialize in my head on their own, but every single one of them in their heart and soul are based upon real people. Some of my characters are people I’ve written into the story, but that could be said for all of them, really.

7) Do you give them names before you develop them? It depends on how they come together. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don’t. The best example I can give you is Devyn Shire. She’s introduced as a cold heartless snob. I’ve gotten criticism for her being not fleshed out enough, but if this person read more than just 6 chapters, they’d have gotten that warmth they were looking for. Devyn has a very good reason for why she’s a snob, but that reason won’t be revealed until Book 3. ‘A Telltale Kindling’. Anyway, I wanted her name to reflect her personality, and Devyn Shire to me, sounds like a real snooty neighborhood, so it was perfect. Her looks are based on Aubrey O’Day from when she was on Celebrity Apprentice and that obnoxious self centered snobby attitude Aubrey had is also written into my character. When I created Evan, I knew he was going to be hopelessly in love with Devyn, so I purposely rhymed their names, a little nod to Dr. Seuss. It felt like a very Seuss thing to do.

8) How do you choose your characters names? It all depends, it could be anything that makes me choose. Characters that I intentionally create that are based on real people, I’ll play with their real names. Like, my friend Mel. Her name is actually Melanie and she won a contest on my Author page to be written into Book 2, A Telltale Magic. Her character’s name is Melina. My friend Christine, her brother was Tragically shot to death in an act of gun violence. She asked me to write him into my Novels and his name was Michael McLaurin, but his Character’s name is Mikah Laurie. My Friend Gemma expressed a real desire to be written into Book 3, and I love her name so much, I’ve kept it for her Character. Willow, my protagonist was named for my favorite tree. Prince Avery was named for former New York Ranger #16 Sean Avery. And then you have Devyn and Evan who I talked about in the previous question. It could be anything that will give a character their name.

9) Do you edit as you write or after you get your manuscript written? I like to get my manuscript written and then go back. Book One I edited 13 Times. I rewrote several chapters and the story kept

growing and evolving. Book 2, I did only 2 edits because I was finally in the swing of Novel writing and because of book one, I learned from my mistakes, so I was able to focus more on the actual story.

10) Do you have an agent, publisher, or self-publish? If you’ve used more than one which was most profitable? My publisher is Ronnie C. Dawson, CEO and Founder of Broken Bars Publishing. He is a most wonderful friend and I’m very lucky. He treats me like a partner and lets me do my own thing. He loves that I take initiative to do things and is constantly amazed with photo edits or Promo or really how hard I work to put myself out there. I’m very determined and driven and he really appreciates that. A few days ago, I was just messing around with t-shirt designs based on A Telltale Secret and he was blown away. He appreciates the effort, time, energy, and creativity I put into everything I do. We also both share the same passion to change the world and he’s doing everything he can to help me impact 3rd World Africa. Like I said, I’m very lucky. I don’t think I could be this happy being signed with anyone else. I’m not really a writer to be dirty rich. I’m a writer because it’s what I love and it’s my heart’s desire. I want to change the world. Don’t misunderstand me. I would love to pay down my debt, buy a house, give my family security, take my family on the best vacation they ever had, but beyond that I just want to keep going and bless the world. 36 Million people have died from AIDS and it’s a tragedy. I can’t know what I know and sit here doing nothing about it. I have always wanted to be a Philanthropist, and thought it would be awesome to spend billions of dollars changing people’s lives. If no Billionaire will let me be a blessing with their money, then I’ll just keep working hard and use my own. The problem with the world today is not enough people care and if more people cared, more change would happen. People say “I need this and I need that, let someone else worry about them.” Guess what? I’m on Government assistance, My husband is living with AIDS, our car wants to blow up, we barely have any money after paying bills, I went 14 years without health insurance, seen my fair share of ridiculous nonsense, I have Anxiety and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Rheumatory Arthritis … I’ve got plenty of reasons to be selfish or sit around feeling sorry for myself, yet I care more about helping and Impacting 3rd World Africa. So, when people have that kind of poor selfish attitude, it’s not good enough. We ALL have the power to do better, we just have to want to. It’s as simple as that. It’s not Quantum Physics. It’s a moral decision.

11) What advice have you received to help you and what advice would you give a new writer? If you truly want to be a Published Author, then WRITE. STOP TALKING and START WRITING!! NEVER GIVE UP. EVER. BE FEARLESS. If someone doesn’t like your story, great. On to the next one. Don’t be offended by criticism, LISTEN and LEARN. If you can’t be criticized, you’re in the wrong business. Trust your instinct and follow your heart, they will never lead you in the wrong direction. Above all, Enjoy Every Single Minute of Your Journey because all of your experiences will only happen for the first time once. I got 47 Rejection letters and LOVED each and every one of them. KEEP A POSITIVE ATTITUDE and You will have the time of your life!!!
